FAQ

Why isn't a plain QR code enough for WiFi/vCard/etc.?

Scanning apps look for specific standard prefixes (e.g. "WIFI:", "BEGIN:VCARD", "tel:", "mailto:", "geo:") to decide what action to offer — a WiFi QR code lets a phone connect directly instead of just showing the network name as plain text. This tool builds those exact formats for you.

Will a custom pattern, logo, or frame stop it from scanning?

Module/eye shape changes and a logo both still leave the underlying data intact — QR codes are designed to tolerate exactly this kind of partial obscuring via error correction. Adding a logo automatically switches to H (highest) error correction to keep it reliably scannable; the frame is purely decorative and sits outside the code itself, so it has no effect on scanning.

What does "Hide background dots" do?

When a logo is set, it skips drawing the QR modules directly under the logo's backing plate instead of just covering them — matters if the logo image itself has any transparency, since otherwise modules could show through around its edges. On by default; turning it off draws every module regardless, relying only on the logo (and its backing plate) to cover that area.

What is error correction level?

QR codes include redundant data so they still scan even if partially damaged or obscured. L (~7%) fits the most data for a given size; H (~30%) is the most damage-tolerant but produces a denser code. M is a reasonable default for most uses.

Does the App Store type know whether to link iOS or Android?

No single QR format can auto-detect the scanning device's platform, so you pick iOS or Android explicitly and enter the app's ID (Apple) or package name (Android) — or paste a full store URL directly, which is used as-is.

Is there a size limit?

QR codes can hold a few thousand characters at the lowest error correction level, but very long text produces a very dense, harder-to-scan code — short text or a URL scans most reliably.

Is my text, logo, or image sent anywhere?

No — the QR code (including any logo you add) is generated entirely in your browser using a local encoding library. Nothing is uploaded.
